The Walther PPQ M2 SC (police pistol quick-defense second generation subcompact) is a double-stack 9 mm x 19 semi-automatic concealed carry gun that derives from the well-known Walther PPQ.

This blunt-nosed striker-fired double-action gun comes with three double-stack magazines: a flush fitting 10-round, another 10-round that has a wedge-shaped pinky rest grip extension that’s taller in front than in back and a 15-round magazine that also comes with a grip extension, albeit a much larger one. Few other such guns offer three different magazine capacities. Note that all three magazines come with counting holes.

Like some other Walthers, the PPQ M2 SC seems hewn from a rock. The upper serrations echo chisel marks while the grip has slightly rocky contours and bulges. For durability, both the slide and barrel are Tenifer (nitrogen and carbon) treated.

Key dimensions? The polygon six-groove rifled barrel is 3.5” long and has a 1 to 10” right hand twist, height is 4.3”, width is only 1.3” and overall length is 6.6”. Finally, the gun weighs 1.3 pounds.

The PPQ M2 SC’s high-strength polymer frame decreases weight compared to similar steel-framed models making it far more comfortable to carry around all day.

This concealed carry comes standard with three phosphorescent white dot steel sights atop the slide. The sight radius between the two low-profile sights is 5.7”. Though this is a compact gun, it has a two-slot Picatinny rail under the recoil spring housing.

The rear sight can be adjusted for windage. The front sight can’t be adjusted, but elevation adjustments can be made by swapping front sights out with other front sights. Each has a specific height that’s denoted by a number.

The gun has a loaded chamber indicator on the slide’s right-hand side. The gun also has a drop safety, striker safety and trigger safety.

The PPQ M2’s Quick Defense trigger has a 5.5 pound trigger pull. The squared trigger guard is roomy and has a deep undercut for better ergonomics and grip and a vertical forward edge for better two-hand positioning and control.

The pistol grip has two subtle finger recesses along the front, a thick palmswell at back and aggressive quasi-diamond plate texturing all around. The extended magazines extend the grip with an additional finger recess in front. The backstraps can be swapped out for the one that best fits your hand. A lanyard loop is tucked into the grip’s bottom.

The magazine release is reversible, and the slide stop is ambidextrous. The Walther PPQ M2 SC is Made in Germany.
